ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Asheville Police found a stolen car in the French Broad River on Saturday afternoon.

Officers said people tubing on the river discovered the car and called law enforcement.

According to police, the car was reported stolen in late May. Officers said no foul play is suspected in the incident and believe whoever stole the car accidentally drove it into the water.

No one was in the car when officers arrived on scene.

According to officers, it is a common area for cars going off a ditch to end up in the water.

Police said they are waiting for the water levels to lower before they remove the vehicle.
