Dera raids shock: In Ram Rahim gufa, cops find 2 minors, 3 women

At least 5 people, including 2 minors and 3 women were rescued from convicted Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa, Haryana on Friday. The two minor children have now been handed over to the DCPO.

After Punjab and Haryana Court directed the Police authorities to conduct a search operation at Dera HQ, as many as 41 Paramilitary companies, 4 Army columns, Police of 4 districts, one SWAT team, one dog squad and bomb squad raided self-styled Godman’s cave at around 9 am today.

The search operation lasted for about 9 hours and police found large amount of cash including money, coins, jewellery, rings, demonetised currency, hard discs, computers, pharmacy medicines without label/brand, OB Van, Lexus car without number and much more. “The search operation began at 9 am and peacefully concluded at 6.30 pm inside the Dera headquarter premises. It will resume again on Saturday,” District deputy commissioner Prabhjot Singh said.

Two rooms were also sealed at the Dera sect’s headquarters covering around 800 acres. Heavy security was deployed at the main entrance to Dera Sacha Sauda at Satnaam Chowk headquarters in Sirsa district of Haryana on Friday ahead of search operations inside the Dera.

Media reports also state that curfew has been imposed in the areas surrounding the Dera headquarters and will not be relaxed till the search operation is completed.

The search was being conducted under the supervision of court commissioner AKS Pawar appointed by the Punjab and Haryana High Courts.

The entire search operation conducted under the supervision of Pawar has been videographed. The flamboyant godman Ram Rahim, known for his outrageous costumes and rockstar lifestyle, was jailed for 20 years last week after he was convicted of raping two followers inside the Dera gufa.
