Miami Police Hunt for 2 Robbery Suspects

MIAMI — City police continued to search Wednesday night into Thursday morning for two armed robbery suspects following an earlier attack on a woman.

“According to detectives, the woman was confronted by both armed men,” explained Officer Kenia Fallat of the Miami Police Department. “One man pushed her onto the ground, while the other robber snatched her purse.”

The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the corner of NW 7th Avenue and 71st Street but the manhunt lasted well into the next morning.

Fallat said that the suspects fled in a Toyota 4Runner SUV.

“Officers in the area spotted the suspect vehicle, and the robbers who fit the physical description,” Fallat explained. “The officers attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to flee.”

The two men hopped out of the SUV at NW 2 Court and NW 94 Street, leaving two women behind. The women were being detained by police for questioning as of Wednesday night.

“We still have a very active scene,” Fallat told reporters at the scene. “The two men that are believed to be within the perimeter are believed to be extremely dangerous and heavily armed.”

Police used SWAT units, dogs and a helicopter to sweep the area.
