Fresno County Sheriff’s K-9 Mikey was accidentally shot in the paw during a SWAT call four months ago in California. His handler, Deputy Jerry Kitchens, rushed Mikey to the vet. In surgery, Mikey’s leg was saved but he lost two toes. Kitchens was sure that his beloved partner would never work again due to the severity of his injuries, but Mikey beat the odds and started training this week to return to service.
Color-blind man gets choked up seeing color for the first time
“Oh my God, I can actually see the color!” exclaimed a color-blind man in Wisconsin, after putting on a pair of Enchroma sunglasses. IT manager Keith Balistreri received the high-priced gift from his co-worker Mike, who raised the funds with 500 people via a Facebook group. (Adult-size Enchromas start at $349.)
Woman’s head is nearly squashed by a truck
A woman crossing the road in China was nearly run over by a truck. The lady, who appeared to be in a rush, was seen on dashcam footage sliding between the vehicle’s front and back tires. The truck braked in time, and she was not seriously injured.
This grandma can’t hold onto her dentures
This family game ended in hysterics after a grandmother’s dentures fell out of her mouth last Christmas. The Scottish family was playing Speak Out, a game where players try to say phrases while wearing a mouthpiece that prevents you from closing your mouth. A family member filmed the woman, who tried so hard to communicate her phrase that her teeth popped out. We commend her sportsmanship.

A conservative pundit was arrested by UConn police after he allegedly attacked a female protester. The student reportedly took the pages of his “It’s Okay To Be White” speech from the lectern before 29-year-old Lucian Wintrich allegedly bum-rushed her. Wintrich is a White House correspondent for a right-wing website, Gateway Pundit.
Wheelchair-bound babe ‘works it’ on the stripper pole
Erin Clark may use a wheelchair, but that hasn’t kept her from rocking the pole. The 36-year-old pole-dancing champ won a national title in Spain, and has helped change the rules for people with disabilities within her sport. “Inclusivity, accessibility do not happen by accident,” Clark said. “They are very deliberate processes that involve thought, action.”

A woman screamed during a live performance of Stravinsky’s “Firebird” in California, presumably after the bass drum startled her awake. The unexpected shriek sent titters across the Cascade Theatre in Redding, as well as a few of the North State Symphony musicians.
Birthday boy with autism celebrates with a heartwarming surprise from firefighters
Holden Bridges, born with autism, almost had a sad day when no one showed up to the 7-year-old’s birthday party. Holden’s dad called local firefighters in Ware County, Georgia, and they swooped right in with gifts, laughs and a ton of surprises. Holden got to spend the rest of the day riding in a fire truck, spraying the fire hose, and celebrating a happy birthday to the sound of sirens and horns.

The insects were probably not happy that their “home” was being removed piece by piece, but after 20 years of pest control experience, Verret made it out of there without one sting.
This 12-year-old tattoo prodigy is a total badass
After studying the process, in six months Ezra has tattooed about 25 people, including his own mother. Even though this talented kid doesn’t have his own tattoo “style” just yet, he works with his mentor Ali Garcia every day after school while practicing his skills at his own home shop, Honolulu Tattoo. With the use of social media, Ezra’s clientele list continues to grow along with his success in the tattoo business.
