RENO, Nev. (KOLO)– A Reno police dog purchased from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in July 2006 died Thursday afternoon, the Reno Police Department report.
Rhoden worked as a police canine until his retirement in June 2014.
“A loyal and fearless partner to Reno Police Officer Ben Lancaster, Rhoden was instrumental in the apprehension of multiple violent offenders in our community,” police said in a statement. “Whether taking part in a SWAT Mission or assisting other local, state or federal law enforcement agencies, Rhoden gave everything he had to his law enforcement family. “
